Considerations when choosing this cable design should include the amperage of the heater versus the amperage rating of the the connector, which is 10 amp. Reference: Male Insert and Female Insert. Using a connector that has a lower amperage rating than the heater may cause deterioration or other problems.
The exposed pins are 1/16″ diameter. It is important to make sure these pins to not get bent or pushed back. The mating female inserts can also be pushed back and should be inspected before use. Other items to inspect include the latch condition on the mating housing. Bent or broken latches can lead to the cable becoming loose and prone to bent pins.
