Hot Runner Recipe Control
Hot runner recipe control eliminates one of the biggest sources of startup errors: manual zone setup. Traditional modular controllers require operators to turn on and configure zones individually. In many cases, all zones are powered simultaneously, increasing the risk of tool wear, leaks, and thermal shock.
The Pulse Hot Runner Controller™ replaces this process with a single HMI that can manage up to 180 zones using stored recipes. Startup is simple. Power on the controller, select the correct recipe, and press Run. All setpoints, limits, and system functions load automatically.
Each recipe stores every parameter associated with a specific tool. This includes temperature setpoints, alarm limits, ramp behavior, and startup sequencing. Once saved, the recipe ensures the tool is started the same way every time, regardless of who is operating the system.
Even Soak is a key feature within recipe control. It allows the tool to be divided into multiple heating groups. Manifolds can be heated first, followed by drops and other components. This sequencing matches best practices for hot runner startup and reduces mechanical stress.
Soft Soak adds another level of protection. Even after reaching setpoint, the tool steel needs time to fully expand. Soft Soak holds the system at temperature for a defined period before allowing injection. This improves gate alignment and reduces premature wear.
Additional recipe-based features include automatic heater bake-out, thermocouple auto-compensation, selectable thermocouple types, temperature units, and manual percent power modes for specialty applications. Boost and idle functions are also stored within the recipe for consistent response to downtime or restarts.
Recipes can be created directly on the controller or remotely using VNC access. This allows process engineers to prepare tools in advance and ensures correct setup on the shop floor.
By using hot runner recipe control, manufacturers reduce setup time, eliminate guesswork, and protect valuable tooling.
FAQs
What is a hot runner recipe?
A saved configuration that includes all zone temperatures, limits, and system settings for a tool.
How many zones can one controller manage?
Up to 180 zones from a single interface.
What is Even Soak?
A startup feature that sequentially heats tool groups to reduce stress and wear.
Why is Soft Soak important?
It allows the tool steel to fully expand before injection begins.
Can recipes be created remotely?
Yes. Recipes can be set up via VNC or directly on the controller.
